----------------OBITUARY----------------

Jerry Don Underwood, 60, of Leighton, died Sunday, April 23, 2006.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at Highland Park Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Brother Ted Vafeas, Kerry "Bubba" Underwood and Chris Underwood officiating. Interment will follow in Glendale Cemetery.

Jerry Don was a native of Colbert County and a member of Highland Park Baptist Church, First Metro Bank board of directors, Alfa board of directors, Southeastern Cotton Ginners, the Red Elephant Club and Autauga Cotton Association.

He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a lifelong farmer who loved the land and cattle. His hobbies included golf, flying, and horseback riding.

He was preceded in death by his father, James M. Underwood.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Underwood, of Leighton; mother Alma U. Underwood, of Muscle Shoals; daughters Tammy U. Johnson and husband, Nick, of Athens, Alison U. Isbell and husband, David, of Leighton, Vicki U. Clotfelter and husband, Lanny, of Tuscumbia, Donna U. Bratton, of Muscle Shoals, and Hannah K. Underwood, of Leighton; brothers, Wayne Underwood, of Leighton, Billy Underwood, of Muscle Shoals, and Edward Underwood, of Tuscumbia; sisters, Alice Jo Duke and Barbara Young, both of Muscle Shoals; 18 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Howard, McCoy Underwood, Tommy Darby, Mike Underwood, Tommy Smith, Jimmy Hughston, Daniel Counts, and Price Counts.

Honorary pallbearers will be Underwood Farms employees.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to "Growing in Christ" Highland Park Baptist Church, Muscle Shoals, Ala.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Northwest Alabama Cancer Center, Tennessee Valley Hospice, Dr. James Ashmore, and Ann Lewis, a dedicated employee for many years.

Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is directing.
