DOUGLAS IVAN COLEMAN, 77 years of age of Big Rock, VA, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Buchanan General Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Pike County, KY, he was the son of the late James H. and Eva Freeman Coleman. He was a former medic in the United States Air Force, a retired cross-country truck driver and was a loving husband and “pops” to his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Coleman, February 24, 2005.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Juanita Keene Coleman, Big Rock, VA; Grandson: Mark (Hope) Coleman, Big Rock, VA; Granddaughter: Kelly Coleman (Evan) Gilliam, Home Creek; Great-Grandson: Brady Deel; Great-Granddaughter: Riley Deel; 2-Brothers: Jerry (Mary) Coleman, Big Rock, VA, Cubert (Janis) Coleman, Hurley, VA; 3-Sisters: Marilyn Cole, Abingdon, VA, Joy (Ron) Cornett, Bristol, TN, Gale (Riley) Couch, Cincinnati, OH; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for DOUGLAS IVAN COLEMAN will be conducted Monday, January 5, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brad Napier officiating with entombment to follow in Mountain Rest Mausoleum, Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M. with a song service at 7:00 P.M.
Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Full Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Childs-Gentry Post No. 7360 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
