The funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Greater Beulah Baptist Church, 613 Sixth Ave., Columbus, GA. Rev. C. Medley Hayes, pastor, officiating. Interment will be held at Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA. according to Charles E. Huff's International Funeral Home. The funeral procession will depart from the residence, 4518 Old Cusseta Road at 12:30 p.m. Visitation will be held Thursday (today) April 27, 2006, from 2 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Simmonds was born April 28, 1914 in Midland, GA. She was the daughter of Mr. William Paschal and Mrs. Lula Jones Paschal. She was a member of Greater Beulah Baptist Church, where she was the former President of the Missionary Society. She was a Member of Heroines of Jericho, Rising Star Court 621, Order of Eastern Star, Esther Chapter 60, Daughter of Iris, Arabia Court 3, Deputy Grand Most Ancient Matron of the state of Georgia, 1951-1987, Deputy Matron of District 8, Columbus, GA., past Grand MAM of the State of GA and member of the Crusaders, named in her honor.
Mrs. Simmonds' memory will be held in the hearts of a devoted husband, SSG (E6) Retired Leroy Simmonds, Columbus, GA.; two daughters, Eleine Price, Columbus, GA. and Joyce Bradley (Ronnie), Columbus, GA.; two sons, Jaycee Smith (Gala), Atlanta, GA. and Simeon Simmonds, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; one sister, Zadie P. Jones, Atlanta, GA.; one brother, Warren Paschal, Waverly Hall, GA.; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
