A native of Poland, he married there Anna Slawinski, later moving both to the United States in Platte county, where they joined other relatives of theirs who were living in and near Duncan. Settling on a farm four miles northeast of Duncan, he worked up to the age of 81. He passed away at St. Mary's Hospital following an eight months' illness.

Duncan Man Dies Here--Bartholomew Galus, 86, of Duncan, passed away at 7:30 p.m. yesterday at St. Mary's Hospital following an eight months' illness. Mr. Galus had been at the hospital for the last 10 weeks receiving medical treatment, and prior to that was bedfast for several months at his home. His death was due to complications of a disease, incident to his advanced age. Mr. Galus, a native of Poland, was born on June 15, 1846. While still residing in Poland he was married to Miss Anna Slawinski. About 50 years ago they came to this country, and direct to Platte county to join relatives, who were living in and near Duncan. Mr. and Mrs. Galus and family settled on a farm, four miles northeast of Duncan, where his son, Frank Galus, now lives. Mrs. Galus passed away Dec. 4, 1899. Seven years ago, Mr. Galus retired from active farm life, and with his daughter, Miss Pauline Galus, moved into Duncan to make their home. Besides a son and daughter, Frank and Miss Pauline Galus, he is survived by another son, Stanley Galus, of Clarks; six daughters, Ven. Sister M. Theophilla, of Terre Haute, Ind., Ven. Sister M. Amata, of Chicago, Ven. Sr. M. Bertilla, of South Omaha, Mrs. Jake Roy, of Loup City, and Mrs. Frank Waskowiak, of Loup City, and 17 grandchildren. Another son, Rev. Fr. Cornelius, who was at St. John's Mission in Arizona, passed away a few years ago. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus' Catholic church in Duncan, and burial will be made in the parish cemetery. The body will lie in state until late tomorrow afternoon at the McKown Funeral home, when it will be removed to the home of Frank Galus, four miles northeast of Duncan.

Bartholomew Galus was born 25 May 1846 in Leki Gorne, Poland. His father was Bartholomew Galus (son of Adalbertus and Marianna nee Kotlarz). His mother was Francisca Kantor (daughter of Josephus Kantor and Eva nee Kiginska). He married Anna Slawinski on 18 Oct 1874 Anna was a daughter of Thomas Slawinski and Agnes nee Chrostek.

On 24 Feb 1908 Bartholomew married the widowed Mary Flakus (nee Tomasiewicz) in Duncan, Platte County, Nebraska.
