Norman (Lolly) Ollar was a joy to be around. He was full of humor and kept everyone laughing. He carried that loving spirit throughout his endeavors.

He and his twin brother Harmon (Sugar) attended Yuba City H.S., where Norman played football and entertained his many friends. The family relocated to Modesto, CA, in 1941. This is where Norman met Helen Dorsey, a beautiful, highly intelligent girl, who was the love of his life. They were married in 1944 and had a daughter, Phyllis, and son, David in the next five years.

Lolly was called to the ministry in his 20's. He later became a Building Contractor with successful businesses in Modesto, Merced, Stockton and Manteca. After retiring from over 30 years of Contracting, he returned to the ministry, pastoring in Shingle Springs and Oroville.

His poor health forced him to retire from his life's work in 1995. He and Helen lived in Pollock Pines for the last ten years. Recently they returned to Modesto to be closer to their family. They were residing at Evergreen Rehabilitation Hospital.

Norman loved music and played many string instruments, often entertaining friends and family. He took great interest in his son's race car endeavors, supporting him in any way, including being a sponsor for his team. Norman was also a BIG football fan; watching sports was a favorite pastime.

The joys of his life were his two children; David and Phyllis, grandsons; Steven and Lane. He was thrilled at the recent arrival of his first great-grandchild, Camden James, born March 1st.

Norman passed away peacefully, Monday April 24, with his sister holding his hand and with his family by his bedside. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen, his daughter; Phyllis Goodwin, son; David Ollar, daughter-in-law; Liz Ollar, grandsons; Steven and Lane Ollar, great grandson; Camden Ollar, his sister; Bernice Ustick, as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and true friends.

Services will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, Sat, April 29, at 10AM
