Ted Ellenwood, 64 of Yarmouth, passed away on Jan. 4, 2011 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy, Texas. Ted was born on Jan. 17, 1946, the son of Theodore 'Ted' Ellenwood Jr., a speed skating champion, and Lucia Derry Ellenwood. Both parents are deceased. Ted graduated from Portland High School in 1965 and Maine Maritime Academy in 1969. Ted worked for Exxon Shipping Company for 22 years and more recently Reinauer Transportation Companies. His love of the sea started at a very young age; raised on Munjoy Hill he spent most summers at East End Beach, Higgins Beach, Ferry Beach and Scarborough Beach. Ted was proud to be known as one of 'The Hill Boys.' It always amazed his wife and children that no matter where he went he would meet someone he knew from 'the Hill.' Surviving Ted is his high school sweetheart and wife of 38 years, Ann Marie Kennedy Ellenwood; son, Garrett Ellenwood, daughter, Allison Ellenwood Spellman and her husband Dennis; grandchildren, James and Adam Ellenwood, and Olivia Spellman; aunt, Connie Sapiro; several cousins; mother-in-law, Irma Kennedy; sisters-in-law, Joan Kennedy Cushman and Wanda Whitney Kennedy; brothers-in-law, Thomas Cushman and Michael and Vincent Kennedy; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 346 Main Street, Yarmouth at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011.
