Robert White, 26
of Chicago's Southwest Side
Beverly neighborhood.

A dispute earlier this week possibly led to the slaying of one man and the wounding of another in a shooting Thursday night.

A gunman on foot approached two men sitting in a vehicle in the 9600 block of South Charles Street and opened fire about 10 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

Robert White was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with a gunshot wound to the chest and shoulder and later died, Greer said.

He lived in the 11500 block of South Vincennes Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

White was an avid musician with his own record label called Trump Tight. His family told NBC5's Kim Vatis that he just moved back into town and they don't know what happened. He was a passenger in the car.

White's sister-in-law, Roberta White, said he was a good uncle to her child, volunteering to go on field trips and helping out when he was needed.

"He was a good person, and bad things shouldn't happen to good people," she said. "It feels like a dream, feels like I need to wake up."

"It's senseless, just senseless," she added.

The second man, 25, was taken to Christ Medical Center in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. A dispute earlier in the week possibly sparked the shooting.

No one was in custody for the incident, according to police News Affairs Officer John Henry at 8:30 a.m. Friday
