Kinder-Charles Wayne “Charlie” Sliman, 74, passed away on January 6, 2015 with his loving family by his side. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015 in the chapel of Ardoin Funeral Home. Rev. Clifton LeJeune will officiate. Burial will follow in Kinder McRill Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, January 07, 2015, from 5-9 p.m. at Ardoin Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Thursday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service. Charlie was a lifelong resident of Kinder. He was a devoted husband of 35 years to his wife, Greta, prior to her death. He was a loving father and grandfather and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his grandchildren. He was a dedicated employee of Coushatta Casino Resort from its inception 20 years ago where he was the grounds supervisor. His work was his life and he worked very hard to provide for his family. He had a very witty sense of humor. He also loved to watch wrestling and football with his son, Mack. He had a special love for his granddaughter, Fallon, whom he referred to as his “baby girl.” Charlie proudly served our country in the United States Army for four years. He never met a stranger and his love was his work and his co-workers. Charlie will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Mack Sliman and fiancée, Lee, of Iowa, and Fredrick Sliman of Deridder; two daughters, Ramona Simmons and husband, Neal, of Beaumont, TX and Darlene Koplevich and husband, Tomer, of Tampa, FL; one brother, Ronald Sliman and wife, Shirley, of California; one sister, Sandy Guidry of Sulphur; 5 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Charlie is preceded in death by his wife, Greta Sliman; his parents, Macky and Relia Sliman; and one sister, Barbara Quirk. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.ardoinfuneralhome.com
