Sig moved to Pipestone Minnesota with his parents around 1930. He moved to Tacoma, Washington with his siblings and mother by 1934. He met his wife Betty and they were married 26 Sep 1942 in her parents’ home in Tacoma, Washington. Sig was called up into the Army Air Core, he trained in the 953d Two Engine Flying Training Squadron in Hobbs Army Air Field as a mechanic. He graduated in 1943 and stayed in Hobbs for the rest of his service.
When WWII was over he returned to his wife and daughter in Tacoma. He tried a variety of jobs, from smelter to shipyards to learning the optical trade. He was looking for a job in the Optical field in Oregon while working on the Milwaukee Railroad as a fireman. On 17 Oct 1947 while in the train yard, another train was moving through the yard and was on the same track and hit Sig’s train head on. He was killed at the age of 31.
