Leonard E. Burks, 82, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rick Cunningham, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, January 9, 2015 at the funeral home.

He was born September 6, 1932 in Howard County and married Jimmye Ruth Shanks December 21, 1952 in Howard County.

Leonard worked at Webb Air Force Base for 20 years.

After retiring he drove truck for Southwest Tool, Williams Industrial Fabrication and Gamco.

He was a member of 14th and Main Church of Christ and had served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Jimmye Burks of Big Spring; one daughter, Elaine Shapleigh of Phoenix, Arizona; one son, Randy Burks and wife, Laurie of Big Spring; one brother, Charles Burks of Garden City; grandchildren, Haley Burks Ragsdale and husband, Chase of Midland, Hillary Burks Younan and husband, Jake of Gilbert, Arizona and J.P. Burchett and wife, Amanda of Kyle; great grandchildren, Jack, Max and Benson and a special nephew, Charlie Burks and wife, Virginia of Garden City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmon Dennis and Edna (Thames) Burks and one brother, Wilmon Dexter Burks.
