Patricia "Pat" Ilene Garis Locke, age 64, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2001 at the home of her daughter in Abilene, TX with her family at her side. Services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2001 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Mike Mitchell will be officiating.

Pat was born January 20, 1937, as the eldest daughter to Elmer J. and Claudine Garis in Enid, OK.

Pat was a loving and dedicated mother and granny. She lived in Abilene, TX.; Norman, OK.; Edmond, OK.; and Springdale, AR, to allow her to spend as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren.

Pat was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for the last 34 years of her life. She put her faith and hope in the scripture's promise of a better life to come. She loved to share this hope at every opportunity with all that would listen. Pat was always the first to offer a helping hand to others no matter the cost to herself. Even in her last days, she continued to offer encouragement, hope and strength to her loved ones.

Pat is survived by six children, Tom Bennett of Springdale, AR, Jack Bennett of Edmond, OK, Kathy Porter of Abilene,TX, Karen LaBrenze of Abilene, TX, Charles Bennett of Ft. Worth, TX and Cheri Loughlin of Norman, OK; 14 grandchildren, Ryan Bennett, Heath Bennett, Eric Porter, Courtney Porter, Chris LaBrenz, Austin LaBrenz, Kelsey LaBrenz, Bailey LaBrenz, Kyle Pafford, Bradley Bennett, Lacy Bennett, Thomas Reid Bennett, Maranda Loughlin, Rachel Loughlin; a sister, Janet Fitch of Pea Ridge, AR; a brother, Jack Garis of Houston, TX; a large family of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and numerous friends Pat considered family.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Garis and Claudine Haines; and a son, Kenny Dean Bennett.

The family would like to thank Hendrick Hospice and the many physicians, nurses, and aides at Hendrick Hospital for their warm and compassionate care.
