Agnes Marie Michels 89 of Rochester passed away Tuesday January 6, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus following a brief hospitalization.

Agnes was born April 9, 1925 to Anton J. and Margaret M. Michels in Stacyville, Iowa. She attended Visitation Catholic School and graduated in 1943. She worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell in Osage, Iowa, before being transferred to Rochester in 1961 when the Osage office closed. She retired in 1984.

Agnes was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and St. Pius X Catholic Church. She resided at Madonna Towers since 2011.

Survivors include one sister, 2 brothers, 2 sisters in law and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her lifelong companion Betty M. Dammen, her parents, 2 brothers Ralph and Elmer, Brother in Law Wayne Schuchart and her niece Margaret Ann Michels.

A funeral Mass for Agnes will be held Saturday January 10 at 11AM at the Madonna Towers Chapel with Father James Russell officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
