This tombstone is not listed in the McBrides' cemetery book, 1972, edtion, pp. 161-162, so presumably no legible stone remains. The McBrides do, however, list four Antram graves and five Antram graves in Dunkard Cemetery.

Father: Aaron Antram, died Culpeper Co, VA.

Thank you to fellow Find A Grave contributor Richard Clarke for his 1/29/2018 SAC suggesting changing the spelling of the surname on this memorial from Antram to Antrim. In response to a question about his source for the Antrim spelling, he wrote: "Tombstone cutters in the 19th C. were notoriously bad at spelling, following directions, etc. unless you hired the best. My 2nd great grand parents dates are reversed on their stones, for one example. His dates on her stone and vica-versa. Even more recently: My great Grandmother, Jennie Hartshorn Frake, who I knew, is buried in the family plot at Maplewood Cemetery in Freehold NJ next to my gr. Grandfather, George Gravatt Frake, (I was at her funeral and burial) but the tombstone has her cousin 'Anna Scott his wife' carved on it! I had to go to Trenton to prove George had never been married to Anna. He married Jennie when they were teens and lived together their entire lives. Even worse, Jennie's cousin, Katie Scott, is listed as George's daughter, another insult to Jennie's memory. My grandmother didn't have the money to have a new stone cut, and neither do I. Again, John's ancestors spell the name Antrim, not Antram, and even some of his own children spell it Antrim. Some of them also were probably illiterate. My 2nd great grandparents (Frake) were illiterate and signed deeds and wills with a mark."

Richard and I are 100 percent in agreement that 19th century spellings were inconsistent and that tombstones often had errors, but, until we can cite at least one record source showing that John Andtram/Antrim used the Antrim spelling, it seems prudent to leave it as Antram. F.A.G. rules do not permit using Antram/Antrim in situations like this one.
