Democratic Banner, Louisiana, Mo. 10-4-1847: MARRIED—On the 30th inst. by the Rev. William F. Watson, MR. JOEL SHAW to MISS ANGELINE McCALLISTER, all of this county.
May joy and bliss their path attend,
May God their Father be, and friend
Till all the cares of life shall end,
May they then in peace to Heaven ascent.
Bound in the silken cords of love,
May their spirits reunite above;
While eternal ages onward move, May they the bliss of Heaven prove.

Democratic Banner, Louisiana, Mo. 9-16-1850: DIED, In this city, on Thursday, the 4th inst., Mrs. MARY A. SHAW, wife of Joel K. Shaw, aged 20 years, 10 months and 10 days. The deceased was kind, amiable and much beloved, and her untimely death is fraught with grief to all who knew her virtues. She leaves many relatives to weep over her loss, and an affectionate husband bathed in tears. She also leaves an infant child, that feels its “first grief” in the loss of a kind mother. May he who “tempers the winds to the shorn lamb” alleviate the sorrows of those who weep, and watch with especial care the tender years of this infant. [Poem omitted].

Burial place unknown. This memorial placed with this cemetery because it has early Shaw burials. Please advise of needed corrections.

Birthdate calculated from age 20.10.10. The 1850 census, Louisiana, Pike County, Missouri, shows:
Joel Shaw 25 (worked as cooper)
Angeline Shaw 20
Mary W Shaw 1
All Missouri born.

Mary A Shaw in the obituary was Mary Angeline Shaw, and she went by her middle name. The Democrat Banner, 4/14/1851, reported that Joel K. Shaw and Ann M. Henderson, both of Pike County, were married on 4/2/1851.

The 1870 census, Louisiana, Mo, shows Ann M Shaw, 40, living with her step-daughter, Mary W Shaw, 21.
