Son of James & Catherine Hansel Bloodgood of So. Amboy, NJ, He entered the Army in 1840 at South Amboy, aged 18 years and was a shoemaker. Civil War Soldier 1861-1865, husband of Eliza Smith. He was a shoemaker, who formerly lived in Oswego City. He was the father of Douglas, Frances, Alice, Edgar & James. In 1867, he abandoned his family, and it was thought he was dead. Research shows him living in Syracuse, NY in 1872-75 working as a shoemaker. About 1879 he appeared in Oswego and then first learned of his daughter Alice's murder.
