Son of Samuel David and Mary Susanna Fritz Watkins.

2nd Husband of Alice A. Gross Tormey, stepfather to Mary A. Tormey, and father to:
Alice Watkins (died in infancy)
Viola Gertrude (Graeve)
Nicholas Charles.

He was a 3rd generation coal miner. Born in Audenreid, Carbon Co. Pa. He married widow Alice A. Gross Tormey, after the death of her 1st husband Bart who was killed in a mining explosion. There is a newspaper article attached to Bart Tormey on ancestry.com This could explain why we see Nicholas E. changing occupations from coal miner, to carpenter, and moving from "coal country" to the city of Philadelphia.

recently found rec. show that Alice re-married a William Miller in 1917 in Maryland and Nicholas E. is still living in Phila. as of the 1921 mother's obit. and 1929 from his fathers obituary. Between 1929 fathers death and 1934 brother John Henry does not mention him in his obit and no siblings or children know of his whereabouts after the 1929 obit of his father.
