Died, at the family home near Iola, at 7 o'clock on Monday morning November 12, 1894, Mrs. Martha A., wife of Col. S.N. Delap, in the 70th year of her age.

Martha A. Strickland was born in Newhaven Conn., August 21, 1825. She came of a good family, and a number of her relatives were highly connected. In 1831 she removed with her parents to Otto, New York, where she was married, September 21. 1847, to Col. S.N. Delap, of Eddyville N.Y. They lived in Eddyville until 1888, when they came to Kansas, locating on the farm near Iola where they have since lived.

Mrs. Delap was a well educated and well bred woman, having an uncommonly alert mind and a diposition that kept her always hopeful and cheery, even at periods of the greatest adversity. She was always active physically, and full command of all her facilties almost to the hour of her death.

She was seized with an attack of quinsy about four weeks ago, but it wasonly a few days before her death that it assumed an alamring phase.

The funeral services were held at the residence yesterday afternoon, Rev. Jas. Hunter officiating. The remains were interred temporarily in the Iola cemetery the intention being to remove them soon to the old home in New York.

The deceased leaves three children, Mrs. Dr. Teft, Mrs. E.A. Brightly, and John F. Delap, and her husband to mourn her loss.
