Leona Durilda Fassler
Leona Durilda Fassler, 91, Fort Scott, Kan., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003 at her home. Graveside services were held Jan. 3 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler with Dr. Terry Davis Officiating. Serves [sic] were under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler. Contributions may be given to the Fort Scott Home Health Care.
Mrs. Fassler was born Feb. 22, 1912 to Johnny Pleasant and Eva Francis Berry Zinn in Virginia, Mo. She attended grade school in Virginia, Mo. She was a homemaker all of her life, choosing to take care of her family and home. On July 3, 1932 she was united in marriage to August Fassler in Butler, Mo. After the death of her first husband August Fassler in 1970 she married James Fassler in 1972 and moved to Fort Scott, Kan. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fort Scott. She enjoyed fishing, flower and vegetable gardening, visiting, traveling and cooking. She also liked to crochet and sew. Her grandchildren were an important part of her life and she was very proud of them. Whenever you visited her it was a necessity that you ate something before you left. Her specialty was fried chicken, walnut and pecan pies.
