Tallahassee Jan 10 - The body of Mrs. Bessie May Safford, 72, of Hot Springs, N. C. , was found in the bathtub of the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Perkins yesterday. A physician pronounced her death due to asphyxiation.

Mrs. Safford is said to have attempted to light a gas heater in preparing for a bath. She then closed and locked the bath room door.

When she did not reappear after about an hour, the door was broken open and she was found lying in the tub of the gas filled room. Efforts were made to revive her, but without success.
