MRS. R.B. McCORD

Services were held Monday, June 3, 1974 for Mrs. R.B. (Mattie) McCord, 95, in the First Baptist Church of Tahoka with the Rev. Jim Turner, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Frank Oglesby, a Tahoka Methodist minister.

Burial was held under the direction of White Funeral Home of Tahoka. Mrs. McCord died Saturday, June 1, 1974 in the Colonial Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Mrs. McCord attended school in Samantha, Alabama. She married R.B. McCord in Samantha on October 13, 1898. She came to Lynn County in 1916 from Baylor County. Mrs. McCord was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tahoka.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Lena Short of Post. Mrs. Willie Thomas of Tahoka, Mrs. Carlice Edwards of Denver City, Mrs. Lucille Looker of Ingram and Mrs. Polly Mott of Graham; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Two sons, Joseph Rollin McCord Sr. and H. Bascom McCord preceded her in death.

Grandsons served as pallbearers. They were E.L. Short, H.B. McCord Jr., Don Mac Edwards, Billy Loren Thomas, Harry Lee Short, Rollin McCord Jr., Robert Thomas Mott and Michael Lee Mott.

The family requested that memorials be sent to the First Baptist Church of Tahoka Building Fund or to a favorite charity.
