R.B."Bob" McCord

Funeral services for R.B. McCord, 72, a long time Lynn County farmer, were held Friday in First Baptist Church of Tahoka, Texas. The Rev. George A. Dale officiated. Burial was in the Tahoka Cemetery with Stanley Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. McCord was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on November 27, 1876 and was married to Miss Mattie Kuykendall in October, 1898 in Alabama. They established their home in Texas in 1904 at Itaska, in the Hill Country. A few years later they moved to Seymour, then came to Lynn County in 1916, buying a farm near Grassland. They lived there until 1946, moving to Tahoka.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, H.B. and Rollin McCord of Tahoka; five daughters, Mrs. M.C. Thomas and Mrs. C.E. Short of Grassland, Mrs. J.C. Edwards of near Tahoka, Mrs. Jim Looker of Idaho Springs, Colorado and Mrs. Tom Mott of McGregor; a sister, Mrs. Nora Hamner of Alabama and one brother, Marvin McCord of Santa Rosa, California, and also an number of nephews and nieces; 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Mr. McCord was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church and was past master of the old Masonic Lodge of Grassland. He also served one term as Commissioner in the late twenties.

Mr. McCord has a host of friends who sympathize with Mrs. McCord and the children in the loss of their beloved companion and father.
