William E. Frey, 83, Altoona, passed away Sunday afternoon at his residence due to complications from Parkinson’s disease.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Lewis and Bertha (Crist) Frey. He married Patricia A. Hicks on January 21, 1956, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife of Altoona; three children: Mary Frey, David Frey and Lori Cramer (Lynn), all of Altoona; and a sister, Eleanor Hawk of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter,Aimee Sue; and a brother, Herman Frey.
William was a 1949 graduate of Altoona High School. He was a U.S. Army Infantry Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He had been employed by A&P for 33-1/2 years and retired from Meyer Jonasson of Altoona.
William had attended St. Mary Catholic Church, Altoona, and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lakemont. He was an avid reader, enjoyed music and loved animals.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015, in Stevens Memorial Chapel, officiated by Father Christopher Panagoplos. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
