James Cairns, aged 20, a bachelor, a Private in 6th Dragoon Guards, from Earls Island, Galway, died at the Galway Hospital, on 14 June 1920.
The cause of death was Gunshot wounds, and Haemorrhage, 44 hours, certified.
His death was registered on 24 June 1920 by a member of the hospital staff.
He died in hospital in Galway, after being shot by a sentry at Earl's Island Camp, North Galway, when it was alleged that he failed to answer a challenge.
