Elizabeth Leighton, dau. of John Leighton and Elizabeth Gorham, b. Sept. 22, 1776 in Lunenburg, Mass. She d. May 3, 1871 in Norwich, Conn. (g.s.) Elizabeth's maternal uncle, Nathaniel Gorham, Jr., was a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

On May 27, 1797 in Boston, Mass., Elizabeth m. Benjamin Lee, whose parentage has not been found. He d. Aug. 15, 1828 in Skaneateles, NY, "aged" 63, called on his gravestone born in Taunton, England (Somersetshire.) They had nine known children.

Elizabeth (Leighton) Lee's mother, Elizabeth Gorham, was a descendant of 1620 Mayflower passenger John Howland.
