Russell G. Lauer, 78, a lifelong
resident of E1yria, died Saturday
at EMH Regional Medical Center
after a long illness.
He was a millwright at Moen
Co. in Elyria for 43 years. He also
was a grain farmer.
Mr. Lauer received a Bronze
Star, three Oak Leaf Clusters and
the Purple Heart while serving in
the Arrny in the Philippines during
World War II.
He was a member of the United
Auto Workers and the Farm
Bureau. He also belonged to
First Assembly of God Church in
Elyria, where he was a Sunday
School teacher for several years.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting
raccoons.
Survivors include his wife of
55 years, Doris (nee Rader);
daughters Evelyn Lauer of Elyria
and Vivian Martin of Bloomingdale,
Ohio; sons Arthur of
Indianapolis, Ind., David of Elyria
and George of North Olmsted;
12 grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild.
He was preceded in death by a
brother, Warren, and a sister,
Laura Klinect.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to
9 p.m. Monday at David Bogner
Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center
Ridge Road, North Ridgeville,
where services will be 11:30 a.m.
Tuesday
The Rev. Rudi Swanepoel, pastor
of First Assembly of God in
Elyria, will officiate.
Burial will be in Brookdale
Cemetery in Elyria, where military
honors will be conducted at
the gravesite.
