Funeral services for John Henry Nix, 73, former Walhalla resident who died in an Ashville, N.C. hospital Monday, morning following several months of declining health and a week's criticial illness were held from Rocky Knoll Baptist church Wednesday. The Reverend C. J. Sentell, the Reverend Frank Pearson, and the Reverend O. W. Holcombe officiated. Interment was in OCONEE MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY...Mr. Nix was born in Oconee County, South Carolina, and until seven months ago made his home in the Salem Community where he engaged in farming. He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Mae (Rochester) Nix; three sons, Grover and Thurmon Nix of Pickens; Edward Nix of Ashville; five daughters, Mrs Clara (Nix) Chapman, Mrs Marzelle (Nix) Pearson, and Miss Florence (Nix) Nix, all of Ashville; Mrs. Cora (Nix) Slone of Walhalla, and Mrs. Gladys (Nix) Price of Akron, Ohio; twenty two grandchildren; and ... great-grandchildren. Davenport Funeral Home was in charge of services.

His death certificate said he was buried in
Rocky Knoll, his mother's did also. Many
believe he was interred beside his wife in
Oconee Memorial and his mother in the
Neville Family Cemetery. Since a grand
and his obit say Oconee, I've moved him
there, but there has not been any proof
in any direction... so be aware.
