He was born in New Bedford son of the late Francis and Susan P. (Spooner) Hallett and resided in Dartmouth for the past 53 years.
He was employed for 40 years as a purchasing agent by Babbitt Steam Specialty Co., New Bedford until his retirement.
Mr. Hallett was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He was a charter member in 1963 of what was then the Dartmouth Baptist Church where he was the organist for 17 years and a charter member of a new Dartmouth Baptist Church formed in 1996 where he was the organist. He was a member of the George H. Taber Lodge AF & AM, Fairhaven; Quittacas Lodge AF & AM, New Bedford; Aleppo Temple Shrine A.A.O.N.M.S., Boston; and The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Valley of Southeastern Massachusetts.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons: William B. Hallett, Jr. and his wife Hope E. of Dartmouth and James R. Hallett and his wife Susan J. of Acushnet; a brother: Roy A. Hallett of Paradise, CA; five granddaughters; two great-grand daughters;and several nieces & nephews.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Thursday at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Acushnet Cemetery, Acushnet.
