Eva Lu Murrison, age 98, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Durant, died on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids.

Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 24, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church chapel, Cedar Rapids. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army in her memory.

Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 24, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiant. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton, Iowa.

Eva Lu Crawford was born March 8, 1916, in Cedar County, the daughter of Charles and Euta (Belles) Crawford. She attended Cedar County country schools and then graduated from Tipton High School in 1934. She also attended Tipton Junior College after graduation. She married Howard Murrison on May 16, 1937. To this marriage was born their son Ronald. They lived in Rock Island after their marriage and then moved to the family farm in Cedar County. Later they lived on Howard’s Aunt’s farm north of Wilton, until they retired and moved to Durant. Howard preceded her in death on March 25, 1996. She then moved to Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids.

She was a member of the Wilton United Methodist Church, having served twenty-eight years as organist. She was also Sunday School teacher and served on boards and committees. She was past president of the United Methodist Women and a past officer on the district level. She was a 50 year member of Purity Chapter, Wilton, past Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of Iowa, Order of the Eastern Star where she was named Worthy Grand Matron of Iowa in 1960, and member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed baking, gardening, playing bridge and being with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Pamela Zimmerman of Wheaton, IL; two granddaughters, Debbye (Robert) Anderson of Mustang, OK, and Rhonda (Glenn) Mullin of Downers Grove, IL; one step-grandson, Geoffrey Zimmerman; five great-grandchildren, Peyton, Jordan, and Boyde Anderson, and Rory and Liam Mullin; one sister, Patricia Crawford of Cedar Rapids; and one step-brother, Forrest Baker of Dallas, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Ronald Murrison, four sisters, Elizabeth and Reba Crawford, Norine Schilling and Edith Glidden, and one brother, John Crawford.

The family would like to thank Cottage Grove Place for their tender loving care given to Eva.
