Charles Willis Adkisson, Jr., age 93, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015, at Asbury Place in Maryville, TN.

He was born on January 20, 1921, in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Harriman, Tennessee where he graduated in 1939.

He joined the Army Air Corps in September 1940 and served until he was discharged as Personnel Sergeant Major of the Special Engineer Detachment at Los Alamos, NM, with the rank of Master Sergeant in October 1945. He later served 4 years in the Army Air Force inactive reserves.

He spent many years in the textile industry, mainly ladies' hosiery, including 4 years (1962-1966) in Puerto Rico, starting up and managing a ladies' hosiery plant for Burlington Industries.

He was a retired North Carolina Certified Public Accountant and operated his own public accounting office in Norwood, North Carolina for 12 years. He was a member of Liberty Christian Church, Maryville.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Dollie Adkisson; sister, Mildred Wood (Garland); and brother, Bobby all of Harriman.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Julia Liming Adkisson; daughter, Patrician A. Moore (Robert) of Birmingham, Alabama; sons, Thomas Adkisson (Rosemary) of High Point, NC and Michael Adkisson (Wanda) of Charlotte, NC, along with two granddaughters, Caroline Adkisson Beglin (Brian ) of Waxhaw, NC and Elizabeth Adkisson Cairo (Mario) of New York City, three grandsons, Charles Adkisson, of New York City and Patrick and John Adkisson of Charlotte; grand-grandson, Travis Beglin, and great-granddaughter, Holly Rose Beglin of Waxhaw, NC.

Kyker Funeral, Harriman, is in charge of arrangements. The family will meet at the funeral home on Saturday, January 17 at 1 p.m. to proceed to Roane Memorial Gardens for a 2 p.m. graveside service with Rev. Harold Ray officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. The family would like to thank the staff of Asbury Place for the loving care they have provided.
