Alice E. Towns, 92, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Feb. 6, 1922, in Garden City, to Junius Edward “June” and Inez Ann Hibbard Baldwin.
On Nov. 27, 1939, she married Harry W. Towns in Lawton, Okla. He died July 27, 1993. She also was preceded in death by her companion, Jerry Jones; a son, Lloyd W. Towns; a daughter, Opal Woodrum; a grandson, Allen E. Towns; and several brothers and sisters.
A homemaker, Mrs. Towns was a longtime resident of Garden City. She enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, raising chickens and gardening.
Survivors include three children, Delmer E. and wife Donna Towns of Garden City, Dale and wife Tommie Towns of Garden City, and Christi and husband Larry Barnett of Norman, Okla.; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
