Grandmother Mary was a loving mother of Percy and Lucille. Her daughter proceeded her in death. Her son lived to be eighty nine dying in 1989. She enjoyed farming and producing her on foods. She canned figs, tomatoes, pickles and other fruits. She took her corn to the mill to be grinned into fresh meal. She processed pork into bacon, killed her own chickens with a quick snap of the neck and for extra cash, she picked cotton. I watched her pick cotton from sunrise to dusk, often exceeding others in her total sacks weighted.

She outlived both her husbands and married again at age 81. She left to mourn seven grand children from Percy and Eliza, and seven grand children from her daughter in law Lucille Viola Watts. Mary had one sister Lula who bore 14 children, including Johnny Lee Williams who wrote her obituary. Her history is vase and she loved telling stories from her Grandmother's plantation/ slave days. Her grandmother was freed from slavery in 1865, she was 12 years old.
