Betty was born on May 2, 1935 in Laurel, Nebraska to Herman William and Anna Frances (Dendinger) Kalin. She spent her childhood in Laurel and later in Coleridge, Nebraska. When her father died in 1946 her mother moved the family to Hartington where she graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1953. Betty married Roger William Albers on October 20, 1953 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington. They purchased a farm west of Hartington and lived there for almost 50 years. Betty kept house and worked alongside Roger on the farm until her youngest daughter, Sheila, started school. She then worked for the ACS Office in Hartington and later as a secretary at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton for 25 years. When her health began to fail in 2008 she moved to Racine, Wisconsin to be near her daughter, Debbie. In 2009 she became a resident of the Clare Bridge Memory Care Center in Kenosha.

Betty loved traveling, camping, fishing, bowling and singing. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Guild, Perpetual Adoration, Christian Mothers and was a former member of the Holy Trinity Choir.

Betty is survived by four daughters, Debbie and Dr. James Tierney of Racine, Wisconsin; Denise and Kevin Miller of Wayne, Nebraska; Cheryl and Barry Buschelman of North Liberty, Iowa; Sheila Bigner of Greenville, South Carolina; 10 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 2 brothers, Bill Kalin of Blair, Nebraska; Larry and Bonnie Kalin of Omaha; and a brother-in-law, Norm Mabeus of Warsaw, Missouri.
