Violetta was born on Nov. 28, 1931, in Fallis, Oklahoma, to Lewis and Lea Melissa Houston. Violetta was the youngest of 10 children.

She passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015, in Oklahoma City, OK.

In 1949, at the age of 17, she married Kelley J. Ruminer. Kelley's mother accompanied them to the Justice of the Peace and gave her permission for him to get married. Violetta had to swear to the Justice of the Peace that she was over 18 years old. She said that even though she was only 17, it was not a lie. She had the words "18 years old" written on a piece of paper that was in her shoe. Kelley and Violetta were married for 56 years until his passing on Jan. 20, 2005.

Together they raised 7 children: Diana, Roger, Timmy and Todd (Trudy).

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be well remembered for the loving care that she provided to her children and grandchildren.

She was blessed with 11 grandchildren: granddaughter ______ Wilson and husband ______, grandchild ______ Miller, granddaughter ______ Tucker and husband ______, grandson ______ Ruminer, granddaughter ______ Ruminer, grandson ______ Ruminer and wife ______, grandson ______ Ruminer, granddaughter ______ Carter and husband ______, grandson ______ Ruminer, grandson ______ Gunn and wife ______ & grandson ______ Ruminer;
11 great-grandchildren, great-granddaughter ______ Mowdy, great-granddaughter ______ Wilson, great-granddaughter ______ Hicks and husband ______, great-grandchild ______ Miller, great-granddaughter ______ Miller, great-grandchild ______ Laye, great-granddaughter ______ Laye, great-grandson ______ Laye, great-granddaughter ______ Romine, great-grandchild ______ Ruminer and great-grandchild ______ Gunn;
and one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Smith Memorial Chapel in Guthrie, OK.

Interment will follow at Carney Cemetery, Carney, OK.

Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Visitation will be held Friday, 12:00 PM-8:00 PM.
