Garth Newman Beck Will Be Missed KAYSVILLE - Garth Newman Beck, a kind and gentle man, died of a sudden illness January 31, 2004, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 15, 1926 in Sanpete County, Utah to Newman James and Stella P. Myrup Beck.

He spent his youth in Centerfield, Utah, where he attended Gunnison Valley High School. He served as student body president and was voted the most likely to succeed. He received the coveted "G" pin as an honor student. He also played the trumpet and had a beautiful singing voice. He attended Snow College on a basketball scholarship. He spent many years working on the family farm. Garth was an avid fan of the Utah Jazz and BYU sports. His knowledge of sports facts and statistics was amazing. He had a sharp wit and was always ready to tell a story or funny joke. He was a great friend to many, especially his neighbors at St. Mark's Gardens. Garth was a member of the LDS Church. At the time of his death, he was a high priest in the Kaysville 15th Ward. He and his wife Carol, served as home teachers until their health failed.

Garth was married and later divorced from Iris Morley and Evelyn Marvidikis. On June 18, 1994 he married his own angel, Carol Dawn Bailey Behunin. Their marriage was solemnized in the Bountiful Temple August 12, 1995. Their life together was an example of love and devotion.

Surviving are eight children, Marsha (Michael) Black, Brenda (Bruce) Baker, Marlowe (Susan) Beck, Shanna Cross, Jill (Jeff) Evans, David (Kristin) Beck, Pam (Mark) Nielson, Patrice Behunin; 30 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Robert Beck; and sisters, Ruth (Harold) Christiansen and Dona (Frank) Cooley.
