Jeffery was a 1969 graduate of Logansport (IN) High School, where he played Varsity basketball, and was a NCC MVP pitcher in baseball. He received an academic and athletic scholarship to attend DePauw University, he then received his Bachelors Degree from Indiana University, and his Masters Degree from Butler Univeristy. He spent a lot of his time working on political campaigns for both parties. Jeffery was an avid researcher of Cass County History.
