Born in Montebello, CA, on June 22, 1924, Mr. Minamoto was the son of the late Kanichi Minamoto and Yei Yano Minamoto. His wife, Beatrice Phillips, died Oct. 16, 2010.
Mr. Minamoto was a WWII U.S. Army veteran. He started in the nursery business in NY. In 1974, he moved to Maryland and, in Ridgely, MD, co-founded the largest plant container nursery of its time called Phyto Ecology. He retired in 1984 and enjoyed antiquing and tending to his plants.
Mr. Minamoto is survived by three nieces: Donna Swenson of Anchorage, AK; Janet Cummings of Citrus Heights, CA; Grace Minamoto of New York, NY; two nephews: James Minamoto of Tokyo, Japan; Wesley Arita of Lancaster, NH; and a sister-in-law, Norimi Minamoto of East Northport, NY.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 9th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street in Denton, where friends may visit one hour before the service.
