Lois A. Dickman, 88, passed away peacefully on Jan. 9, 2015, at Emeritus Assisted Living. Warm, gracious and outgoing, Lois was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was born on Jan. 3, 1927, in Jenners, Pa., as the youngest of seven children to John and Jane Shawley. Her happy childhood was among her fondest memories. After graduating from high school she accompanied her older sister, Odella, to Boulder, Colo., where on a blind date one Sunday afternoon in 1946 she met her husband-to-be Robert (Bob). They were married on July 26, 1947, in Boswell, Pa.

A Navy wife and homemaker for much of her life, she returned to college in the 1970s and graduated as a LPN on March 15, 1975. She worked for several years as a hospital nurse, a school nurse and as a caregiver for her mother suffering from Alzheimer"s. In 1992, she and Bob retired and moved to St. Augustine, Fla.
As active parishioners of St. Anastasia Catholic Church and members of the gardening ministry, she and Bob spent many hours working in the gardens and grounds of the Church and Community Center.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 67 years, Robert E. Dickman; children: Carol (Geoff) Gartner, Glenda (Ritchie) Martinez, Richard (KC) Dickman, Jane Eastburn and Julia (Richard) Reno; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
