WEST MANCHESTER, Ohio -- Mary Helen Wigger, age 81, of West Manchester, Ohio, died Monday, May 1, 2006, at her home.

She was born Nov. 17, 1924, in Eaton, Ohio, to the late Virgil and Lillian M. (Smith) Chambers.


She was a member of Ware's Chapel United Methodist Church and the U.M.W., den mother for Cub Scouts for 48 years, troop leader for Girl Scouts, 4-H advisor, Monroe Homemakers, Preble's Little Turtles Camping Club, recipient of the Silver Fawn Award in Scouting, recipient of the Torch Award United Methodist Scouting Award, numerous other scouting awards, 1942 graduate of Eaton High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents;an infant brother,December26, 1933, daughter, Billie Sue Reed; granddaughter, Christina G. Wigger.

She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Wigger, to whom she married July 25, 1943; daughter, Donna Jean Bunger, Eldorado, Ohio; four sons, Virgil E. "Bud" (Pat) Wigger, Kansas City, Mo., Donald E. "Sparky" (Betsy) Wigger Jr., Englewood, Ohio, William Dean Wigger Eaton, Ohio, Joseph Edward Wigger ( Julie Cultice-Neaveill), Eldorado, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother, Myron E. (Jane) Chambers, West Manchester, Ohio; sister, Martha Jane (Marion) Schweizer, Richmond, Ind.; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2006, at Ware's Chapel United Methodist Church, West Manchester, Ohio, with Pastor John Rozewicz officiating. Burial will be in Ware's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, Ohio, and one hour prior to services in the church on Friday.

The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Ware's Chapel United Methodist Church, 1060 Foos Road, West Manchester, OH 45382; Cub Scout Pack 280, 1060 Foos Road, West Manchester, OH 45382; or American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 203, Eaton, OH 45320.
