Son of John C. (7) and Lydia (Wait) Blodgett was born in
Philadelphia, Jefferson County (N.Y.) June 30, 1830.
He married, Dec. 8, 1860, Mary Skinner.
Children:- Albert ; Maria; b. no dates.

After his marriage James settled in Antwerp (N.Y.) where his
children were born. He enlisted in the U.S. army during the Civil War, joining Battery D, 1st New York Light Artillery. He died of disease in Virginia.

After his death, his wife moved "West" to Michigan or Wisconsin
