TWILA MAY SOLBACH

"Together Again"

After a courageous two year battle with lung cancer, Our Heavenly Father called his daughter Twila home to be reunited with Everett, her loving husband of 35 years, and her baby boy.

Twila took on her battle with a, "this will not beat me" attitude. With a deep faith in God, a wonderful doctor, and the prayers and support of loving family and friends she lived two years with a disease that could have taken her in four months.

Twila was born at home in McCracken, KS the child of Alex Graf Jr. and Cecilia Werth Graf.

Twila attended McCracken Schools and graduated from McCracken High School. Upon graduation she moved to Russell City, KS taking a job as an in home care giver to the elderly.

While in Russell City she met the love of her life, Everett W. Solbach. They were wed on February 13, 1956, a loving and happy marriage until his all to soon passing December 6, 1991.

They were blessed with four children; Anita Samarin and her husband Ken, and their children Jared and Ashley of Kerman, CA; Geralyn Burley and her husband Brian, and their children Trevor and Austin of Fort Morgan, CO; John Alex Solbach, April 3, 1964 through December 3, 1965; and Bill R. Solbach and his wife Larissa, and their children Timothy and Benjamin of Albany, OR.

Twila and Everett moved to California in 1957 and lived in the Kerman area until 1981, then moved to Silver Lake, OR.

She returned to Kerman in 1992, after the loss of her husband, to be near her daughter Anita.

Twila was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a stay at home mom who took her duties as a mom and helpmate to her spouse quite seriously. Through job and career changes she always held a spot beside her husband.

She kept the books for their family farm and after returning to Kerman she worked seasonally for Sun Empire Foods making chocolate covered prunes, 'French Kisses'.

Twila was an avid volunteer for church and community activities; she was a cook for St. Alphonsus School, taught catechism for St. Patrick's Catholic Church, a 4-H leader teaching cooking and crafts, and cooked for the high school football and basketball teams.

She was a member of the Farm Bureau of Oregon and the Lioness Club of Oregon.

Twila and Everett were instrumental in the establishment and the building of a Catholic Church in Silver Lake, OR.

She helped organize and worked on the Kerman Chamber of Commerce 'The Big Fresno Fair' booth for several years and devotedly volunteered at the Kerman Library and the Kerman Food Bank.

Twila truly enjoyed helping out wherever there was a need and had a way of seeing the needs of others. She loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. Twila was fun loving and enjoyed hours of playing games with friends and family.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. "Pad" A. Padmanabhan, the nurses and staff of the California Cancer Center, the staff, her nurse and Chaplain from Saint Agnes Hospice for making the journey down a difficult path as good as possible.

Twila is survived by her children and grandchildren; her sisters, Patricia Dreher of Akron, CO, and Jane Haas and her husband Chuck of Olathe, KS, and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 15437 W. Kearney Blvd., in Kerman Thursday, May 4, 2006, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, on Friday, May 5, 2006, at 10:00 a.m.
