Leonard E. Benjamin, 84 of Barryton, died at Mecosta County General Hospital, in Big Rapids, MI. He was born in Sears, MI., and moved to Barryton in 1918 with his family. He was an oil driller for several oil companies throughout MI. In 1934 he married Ruth Scherlitz of Sears. Survivors include his wife, Ruth, a son, Harold (Harold's wife Margaret) of Warsaw, N.Y., two sisters, Adeline MacKersie and Anna Lowery, both of Barryton, and sister-in-law, Elnora Benjamin of Barryton: five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce, on Aug. 1, 1989. Services were held on Aug. 4, at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton, with Pastor Dan Nicksich officiating. Graveside service was held Monday, Aug. 5th, in the Orient Township Cemetery.
