Loren's birth name was: William Loren Frantz. He was named after his great grandfather William Frantz. He was the youngest son of Clair Evett Frantz and Gertrude Alice Leary-Frantz. His only sibling was Charles James Frantz. The family lived in Detroit and Alpena, Michigan during his childhood. After his retirement from Ford Motor Co he and his wife Beverly moved to Alpena, Michigan until his death.
