John Batista Orecchia, age 88, was born on May 11, 1926 in San Mateo, California and passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 in Albuquerque. John was a true renaissance man, an accomplished violinist, boxer, football player, piano player as well as a gourmet baker. His work ethic never wavered. John honorably served his country in World War II, in the Pacific Theater from 1944 until 1946. John was also a concert violinist in the San Francisco World Fair in 1939. John was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Louise Orecchia. John is survived by his children, Paul M. Orecchia of Rapid City, SD, Joyce A. Orecchia of Santa Rosa, CA, Rick G. Orecchia of Belmont, CA, JB G. Orecchia of Pleasanton, CA and Rick P. Orecchia of Grants, NM, 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. A Memorial Service will be held at Compassion Mortuary, 120 N. Third St. Grants, NM on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date in Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA.
