James Theodore Asbury age 88 of Horse Cave passed Saturday January 24, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Clarks Hill, Indiana on August 22, 1926. He was retired from the United States Postal Service, a Member, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Choir Member of the Horse Cave Baptist Church for many years. He was also actively involved in the formation of the Hispanic Ministery and a founding member of the Horse Cave Housing Authority. He was a longtime member of the Cave City Masonic Lodge, the Gideon's International and a United States Army Veteran of World War II. James was an avid Golfer and he had a wonderful sense of humor and was a very dedicated University of Kentucky Basketball Fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Asbury and Minnie Atwell Asbury and by two brothers. Glenn and Junior Asbury.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Seymour Asbury , of Horse Cave, One Son, Gary Asbury and his wife Joy, of New Braunfels, TX , Three grandchildren, Amy Schulte and her husband Matt, Laura Rogers and her husband Nick, and KaelinWright and her husband Aharon, Five great-grandchildren, Ty-Christian Clark, Madeline Schulte, Reese and Elle Rogers, Anslie Wright and his Loving Friends and Caregivers, Angela and Scott Smith.

Masonic Services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday night at Winn Funeral Home Chapel and Funeral Services will be held Tuesday January 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Horse Cave Baptist Church with burial with Full Military Honors provided by DAV Chapter # 20 in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation at Winn Funeral Home from 2 until 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 until 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Church.

Expressions of Sympathy may be made in the form of Contributions to the Horse Cave Baptist Church Choir.

Arrangements are under the direction of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave.
