Eliza Harvey was the daughter of Thomas Harvey and Eliza Boal.


She was baptized on the 17 Dec 1845 at St Anne's Church of Ireland, Shankill, Belfast


She was orphaned as a child and was raised in a Church of England orphanage in Ireland

On 5 Nov 1862 Eliza departed from Gravesend, England aboard the sailing vessel 'John Duncan' and was part of Miss Maria Susan Rye's - 'Female Middle Class Emigration Society' to New Zealand. Eliza a arrived Port Chalmers, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand on the 13 Feb 1863.


Eliza married John Marshall (goldminer) at Lawrence, Otago in 1864. John Marshall was killed in a mining accident at Switzers (Waikaia) Southland on 22 Sep 1870.


She returned to Gabriels Gully, Lawrence and became friends with John Oliver Kitto, a goldminer from Breage, Cornwall. Eliza and John had a daughter Phoebe Marshall.


Eliza married Thomas Honeychurch (goldminer & stonemason) at Lawrence, Otago in 1873


Eliza and John Honeychurch moved to White Chapel Flat at Arrowtown, Queenstown Lake District.


She was the mother of five daughters:

1. Eliza Ann Marshall b.1865 and married Andrew Hope.

2. Mary Johannah Marshall b.1867 and married James McKubre.

3. Theodesia Marshall b.1869 and married John Kitto

4. Phoebe Marshall/Kitto b.1871 and married Richard Crocker Balch

5. Annie Mary Honeychurch b. 1875 and married Thomas Andrew Reid
