General Samuel Avery & Mary A. W. (Candler):
General Samuel Avery was a native of Vermont,
and served in the War of 1812. He subsequently
removed to Marblehead, where he commanded the
local brigade of militia for fifteen years,
served many years as a selectman of the town,
and represented it in the General Court.
Mary A. W. (Candler) was a daughter of Captain
John Candler of English descent.
