Marvin was born on September 8, 1931 to Ferdinand and Martha (Keisz) Faut in Dunn County, ND. He grew up and attended school in Golden Valley. Following his time in school, Marvin took over the family farm south of Golden Valley. He married Marvee Bauer on November 28, 1957 at Hope Congregational Church, Golden Valley and the couple had four children. Marvin and Marvee ranched and farmed for 56 years.
Marvin was active with many organizations. He was on the Soil Conservation Board, the Farmers' Union Board and was a member at Prairie View Church of God. He also enjoyed fishing, going to auction sales and visiting friends and residents at the nursing home. He was especially fond of the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Marvee of Golden Valley; three sons, Maurice of Golden Valley, Merl (Rita) of Beulah, and Mark (Jill) of Chandler, AZ; one daughter, Melinda (Albert) Mersch of Troy, TX; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Jane (Delmar) Mosset of Spokane, WA; one half-sister, Darlene (Deen) Brecht of Golden Valley; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
