New Glasgow – Peter Lorne Forsythe Borden, Sr., age 86, of 324 Frederick St., New Glasgow, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2007, in the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late James and Sadie (Jewell) Borden. He retired from the Town of New Glasgow in 1986 after 34 years. He served in the Second World War and received three medals and was a 34-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Normandy Br. 34 New Glasgow. He was an avid fisherman and was a member of the 55+ Seniors Bowling and Card Club. He is survived by daughters: Elizabeth Paris (Don Styles); Catherine (David) Gibson; Alanna McQuaid; Carolyn Desmond; sons: Lawrence (Judy) Borden; Peter (Rose) Borden; James (Angela) Borden; Josh (Heather) Borden; Isaac Borden; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Eileen Elizabeth Desmond, sisters, Kathleen Borden, Vera Borden, brothers, Herman Borden and Lloyd Borden. Visitation Friday 7-9 p.m. and Saturday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 3 p.m. Sunday in Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Rhonda Britton officiating. Burial will be in Lorne Street Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the War Amps or the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit.
