Elizabeth Lucretia McCalla, a daughter of Robert M. and Nancy Jane Gragg] McCalla, was born on the 25th day of June 1848 in Lincoln County, Tennessee.

At the age of 19, Elizabeth married Robert Stephenson Baird on August 22nd 1867. The following known children were born to this union:
Sarah Jemima "Sally" (1868-1954)
Joseph Bryson (1871-1962)
Leonidas Knox (1873-1947)
Charles Leslie (1877-1897)
John Robinson (1881-1912)
Jennie Agnes (1884-1975)
Robert Hemphill (1888-1890)
