James P. Johnson, 65, of 717 Vine St. died at 6:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 1995, at his residence.

Born Dec. 27, 1929, in Boyce, Va., to the Rev. Herbert C. and Willie Bell Pollard Johnson, he married Nancy Johnston Ross on Dec. 29, 1981, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, James P. Jr. of San Diego; two stepsons, Eric Ross of Peoria and Jeff Ross at home; two daughters, Mrs. Earnest (Laura A.) Johnson of San Diego and Kari L. Johnson at home; five brothers, Charles of Wenonah, N.J., William of Phoenix, Frank of Woodbridge, Va., Nimrod of Wilmington, Dela., and George of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Emma Lewis of Jamaica Plain, Mass., and Mrs. Oney (Susie) Fitzpatrick of Elyria, Ohio; and three grandchildren. His stepmother, Laura Johnson; one sister; and one stepbrother preceded him in death.

He worked in the maintenance department of the Illinois Valley Yacht Club.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

Cremation has been accorded.

Memorials may be made to Saint Francis Medical Center Hospice Program.
